Trinity Gardens 44277 Portola Avenue, Palm Desert
About the Future of Trinity Gardens
Proposed Expansion from 10 to 15 Residents
Trinity Gardens is an established residential care home that has served seniors in Palm Desert for years. The property is currently licensed to care for 10 residents, and this proposal allows the home to continue operating while modestly expanding its capacity to serve up to 15 residents in a thoughtfully designed residential setting.

This project represents an evolution of an existing home, not a
change in use.
Our goal is to build upon a proven care model while improving the physical environment, enhancing resident comfort, and strengthening long-term operations. The expansion allows the home to provide private suites with individual bathrooms, improved common areas, and updated amenities that support dignity, safety, and quality of life for residents.

This project represents an evolution of an existing home, not a change in use.
Our goal is to build upon a proven care model while improving the physical environment, enhancing resident comfort, and strengthening long-term operations. The expansion allows the home to provide private suites with individual bathrooms, improved common areas, and updated amenities that support dignity, safety, and quality of life for residents.
Our Commitment to Continuity
And Care
Trinity Gardens already operates as a residential care facility within the neighborhood. Residents receive assistance with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, medication management, meals, and social engagement, all within a supervised, home-like environment.
This proposal maintains that same level of care and supervision while improving the facility to better meet the needs of aging residents and their families.
The home will continue to operate as:
- A non-medical residential care facility
- A professionally staffed home with 24-hour supervision
- A quiet, residential-scale environment
- A licensed facility regulated by the State of California
Residents typically require support with daily living but do not need hospital-level or skilled nursing care. This type of home fills an important role between a family home and a memory care setting, allowing seniors to remain in a familiar community as their needs change.
Our approach in Palm Desert reflects a thoughtful, long-term vision. This project is led by Rafael Carrillo, the primary investor, whose relationship with Palm Desert spans decades. Having spent winters in the Coachella Valley since childhood, the area has long been part of his family’s life. Today, as his father reaches the stage where supportive care becomes more relevant, the mission has taken on personal significance.
That perspective shapes our philosophy. We believe senior living should feel like a home where relationships are real, care is ever-present, and the environment is uplifting rather than institutional.
Palm Desert’s strong senior population further underscores the need for smaller, well-operated care homes that allow residents to remain close to their families and familiar surroundings.
We are beginning with the Fairway property as our first location, with the goal of establishing a small cluster of up to five residential-scale care homes throughout the area over time. This phased approach allows us to build relationships locally, refine operations within the community context, and earn trust through performance and transparency.
Each home will reflect the same standards of quality care, professional management, and neighborhood compatibility.
A Thoughtful Expansion of an Existing Home

The proposed improvements to Trinity Gardens focus on quality, comfort, and safety.
The expansion will increase capacity from 10 residents to 15 residents through the addition of new living space and upgrades to the existing home. Each resident will have a private suite designed to accommodate personal furnishings, mobility needs, and accessibility requirements.
The updated home will include:
- 15 private resident suites with accessible bathrooms
- Comfortable indoor common areas for meals and activities
- A residential-style kitchen and dining space
- Administrative and support areas for staff operations
- Outdoor seating, walking paths, and garden areas
The design remains consistent with the surrounding neighborhood and maintains a single-story residential profile rather than an institutional appearance.
Enhancing the Property and the Neighborhood
The remodel represents a long-term investment in maintaining a high-quality home within the neighborhood.
Exterior improvements are designed to elevate the appearance of the property while remaining consistent with surrounding homes. Landscaping enhancements, refreshed building finishes, and improved outdoor amenities help ensure the home remains attractive, well maintained, and compatible with the residential character of the area.
This investment reflects a simple philosophy:
Take care of the property. Take care of the residents. Be a responsible neighbor.
